Adventure! Day 27 - Austin

AKA the second-to-last day of travel. Today we drive to New Orleans. Originally we were planning to do something amazing, but I think at this point we are going to get in too late. I’m not sure. Maybe it will be the exact right time. Everyone is sleeping and it’s 10:30 am.

The tuba situation is unknown. I sent him a message at 3 and I see that he read it at 6:30 this morning. But he didn’t respond. Maybe I’ll go message him now.

I guess it was silly to plan one last fun thing at the end. I think at this point no one cares at all and just wants to be home - we’re too close to almost back to our own beds and deeply missed dogs and cats.

I’ve been trying to decide if it would have been better to do the very fast but long drive out to California and then slowly creep back or if the way we are doing it is optimal.

Gotta put some coolant in Miss America this morning before we go. (Scratch that. I got the wrong coolant. I think it’s fine. It is only a little low.)

Ok. It’s day 28 but let me finish day 27. I drove us to get the tuba; maybe I had too much coffee, but we got there exactly on time. Ollivander tried the tuba and liked it, and that was that. So now we have added a giant pet tuba to our van storage situation. 10 people, one tuba.

And then I drove from a storage unit in South Texas to a five star BBQ restaurant recommended by the tuba guy (it truly was five stars ⭐️) to our Airbnb off Bourbon Street. And I drove the speed limit. There was rain all over the place all around us so it was really nice and cool outside, but we did not get much rain for our drive. Which was awesome.

I was beyond happy to be the driver. And I played the music loud and rolled down the road. We only added 50 minutes to the estimated time and we stopped for gas once, so Miss America was flying down the road! Beep beep watch out.
