Adventure! Day 24 - Ventura

Things left behind so far:
        1.      Driver’s license
        2.      Gas cap
        3.      “Flannel” shirt

We woke up this morning at the Ohnemus family campground. We slept really well and the creek behind the cabins sounded lovely. The weather was perfect and we hiked to the recommended swimming spot and climbed on rocks - I got into stinging nettle and it stings! The plant was tall and not like Florida nettle at all.

We visited with the Ohnemus family today. Grandma Virginia and Grandpa Roman will be celebrating 73 years of marriage this year. Tara’s dad finally retired and moved away and they all miss him and Sherri. Grandma is philosophical about it; she says children have to move away sometime. They have 18 grandchildren and something like 50 great grandkids, and Grandma wants some great great grands - here’s looking at you, Tanner and Victoria.

We saw the Pacific Ocean. It was the first time for this Floridian, and I enjoyed looking at the ocean and the mountains at the same time. After our beach visit, we had a little treat at Rori’s artisanal creamery - a delicious place and a fantastic recommendation from Jenna.

And then we went to Roman and Virginia’s for pork tacos and they were delicious. Jenna made the meal for our group of 10 and an additional 10 of Ohnemus crew; she made cooking for 20 look easy. The Onhemus family made hosting a group of 10 look easy, too, so I guess it’s genetic. Grandma said she is pretty sure she has the busiest kitchen in all of California; I’m pretty sure she’s right.

Another terrifying drive up to the campsite and we are charging phones and planning for one last West Coast adventure and then we are headed back to Florida.
