Adventure! Day 8 - The Ozarks

Travel blog day 8.

It’s Monday, which means Damien is back at work and us travelers have some decisions to make. It looks like the rain will hold off until the afternoon, but then it’s going to start and not stop for a while - Maybe through Tuesday. The original plan was to wake up early Tuesday morning and start driving. We had a few alternate plans, like driving through the night, but I don’t want to drive in the night and the rain and through the mountain (I don’t eat green eggs and ham - I do not like them Sam I am). So maybe we will sleep another night and just leave at sunrise Tuesday morning and drive in the rain.

I was told we might take the boat out this morning, but I am looking forward to washing laundry. I’ve got it all separated and I think we have about 4 loads. That would be $20 in coins at the hotel. For that matter we took $13.50 worth of campground showers last night at the Ohnemus house - And that’s an undershot on the estimate because some people took way longer than 4 minutes (lookin at you, Hunter kids).

So if everyone wants to boat, that’s perfect. Other people can stay home and wash laundry. Hopefully I am other people.

I am. Alivia stayed home with me and did some editing of the blog - painful for her to tolerate the “stylistic” choices but now the grammar is tight! Liam stayed as well and I think he did some gaming.

A big group of 7 went out on the boat. That’s how many the boat holds. I was here wondering if it was wonderful when I heard a loud sound of thunder and looked outside to see rain and the trees blowing.

I called Tara and she said it wasn’t raining there yet but that they were headed in, her dad was speeding up the boat, and they had a most amazing time. I’m guessing cliff jumping in the Ozarks with Tara’s dad is going to be a highlight of this trip.

Ok. We’ve decided. We will wake up early and get on the road, rain or shine (it’s gonna be rain). When they got home, we all worked on a complicated puzzle.

Dinner was amazing. Tara’s dad (Steve) and his brother (Gary) grilled burgers and Sherri made chopped baked sweet potato and air fried tater tots. I told Eli to make sure he got something to eat and he said he was on his 5th burger. Alright then.

After dinner we played some music with family and neighbors and it was fun. It’s almost 9 and we are going to try to fall asleep early (after one more load of laundry that is and one last blog update).
Today was really nice. Sherri set us all at ease last night when we got here and we felt right at home within minutes of arriving. I’m already sad we are leaving and we are still here. Goodness.
Steve said, “now we know how many people we can fit in this house.” True.
