Adventure! Day 1 - And We’re Off!

Book by Beth, Illustrations by Tara.

6:45 - good thing Damien set an alarm. I was sleeping. Deeply. Partially because I was exhausted and partially because god made sleeping meds. Loaded the bus the night before (obviously it rained when we were loading), but had a few last-minute things not to forget. The loading went pretty well and we made it out in the window.

Got to Whole Foods and stocked up.

Been driving for about 3 hours now, and we’re out of Florida. I think we’ve mostly been introverting, but Eli’s our dj so sometimes people are singing along.

Stopping at the Buc-ees in Georgia and then to a farm nearby for fresh peaches.

Ok, we did peaches and Buc-ees. Got gas. Got peach syrup and I’ll make French toast in the morning. Dinner was salmon and dill pickled garlics and it was amazing to have a hot meal after a long day of travel.

Our campsite is really nice. It’s a pull-through. We are sleeping 7 in the shuttle bus and 3 in the tent. Fits fine. Sardines and we are head to foot like Charlie’s grandparents.

Kids did workouts; I put Eli through a pretty good workout. Then they all showered and now we are all tucked in.

Tara did the last 4 hour drive, but it was too much for her. The physical requirements of the driving made it so her hands didn’t work.

Kids are whispering, but it’s very noisy.

Day one in the books and we are off on a grand adventure!
